Julia Palmieri Mattison is a filmmaker and graduate of the master's program in Speculative Narration at ERG (Brussels). The construction of her artistic practice involves various media: video, installation, performance, writing and photography, all of which are inseparable. She highlights the intimacy that is inseparable from our mental health, abused by the community and misused by social networks. Her short films question how we live together, based on the daily life she sees. Her work frees itself from individual narratives by taking on a broader scope: family, society, the times, drawing on a shared memory. In 2020, she will make her first short film: «Play me, I'm yours», which will travel from DOK Leipzig to Popoli via Brussels. With «Looking mean is not cool anymore», Julia takes a closer look at female friendships and how they are portrayed in films for teenage girls.
