1870, Algeria, the Aurès mountains, an arid zone far from the colonial administration. A dispute between the French and Algerians over water leads to the discovery of a mineral that is highly coveted at the height of the industrial revolution: iron ore. The discovery attracts an influx of newcomers which upsets the already delicate balance between the colonisers and the colonised. Out of the violence a mining town emerges: Ferville.
