Ilias El Faris
Born in Agadir in 1990, Ilias El Faris now lives in Paris.
He shoots his first short film, Azayz, in Super 8, in Taghazout, selected in various international festivals and awarded the Jury Prize at Doclisboa 2016.
In 2017, Ilias directed Roujoula in Casablanca, in international competition at the Clermont-Ferrand festival and was awarded the Grand Prize for short films at the 40th edition of Cinemed.
In 2019, on Casablanca’s beach, Ilias directed Sukar in 16 mm. The film has several international selections (Oberhausen, Indie-Lisboa, Glasgow, Zinebi, Uppsala, Kino Pavasaris, Bogoshorts) and wins the jury prize and the France TV prize at the Champs Elysées Film Festival. The film also received the Audience Award at the last PCMMMO in Paris.
For the collection L’Animal, commissioned by the CNAP and GREC, Ilias directed Aïn Diab that same year and screened at the Côté Court festival.
In addition, Ilias is an actor, animates film workshops at the University of Art of Amiens and regularly collaborates with the companies of l’éventuel hérisson bleu (theater) and Miroirs étendus (lyrical creation).
